Legal Maxim: Expressio unius est exclusio alterius.

The above maxim means; the express mention of one thing excludes the others i.e when one or more things of a class are expressly mentioned, others of the same class are excluded.
For instance, sections 77(2) and 117(2) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (CFRN) 1999 as amended provides that every citizen of Nigeria who have attained the age of eighteen years residing in Nigeria at the time of registration of voters for the purpose of election to the legislative house is entitled to be registered as a voter for that election. Now, the express mention of every citizen who have attained the age of eighteen years is an exclusion to every citizen who is below eighteen years based on the above rule.
