Legal Maxim: Expressio unius est exclusio alterius.

LAW; Legal Maxim; expressio unius est exclusio alterius . The above maxim means; the express mention of one thing excludes the others i.e when one  or more things of a class are expressly mentioned, others of the same class are excluded. For instance, sections 77(2) and 117(2) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (CFRN) 1999 as amended provides that every citizen of Nigeria who have attained the age of eighteen years residing in Nigeria at the time of registration of voters for the purpose of election to the legislative house is entitled to be registered as a voter for that election. Now, the express mention of every citizen who have attained the age of eighteen years is an exclusion to every citizen who is below eighteen years based on the above rule. . . . . . . . . . GOVERNMENT: What is Politics? . The word 'politics' is derived from the greek word 'polis' which means 'city state'. The concept of politics can be best understood within the context of a state. . We are going to discuss three definitions of politics briefly. . -According to David Easton, Politics is the authoritative allocation of values within a state. This definition places politics on the view that political powers are used to share the scarce resources of the state authoritatively among the people. . -According to Abraham Harold, Politics is the determination of who gets what, when and how. This definition can be divided into three parts; i. What, ii. When and iii. How. GOVERNMENT: Power and Authority

GOVERNMENT: What is the difference between Power and Authority? . Power is the capacity to influence another's behaviour through coercion. Power is the capacity to make laws (usually selfish laws) and force obedience to the laws. Power involves the use of force to make someone do what he does not want to do. It involves threat and sanction. Power is mostly associated with absolute government e.g military dictators, absolute monarchs,e.t.c. . Authority is legal power. Authority is the legal right to make laws. When Power is legal, it becomes Authority. Authority connotes the acceptance to rule by the people. The Constitution and the people are the main sources of Authority. Authority is mostly associated with a democratic setting.

GOVERNMENT: What is a manifesto? . In one sentence, a manifesto is a proposed programme of a political party. The promises of a political party are its manifestos. For example,  if a political party promises to build schools when it comes into power, that (the building of schools) is its manifesto. . Manifesto can also mean a written statement declaring the intentions, views and motives of a political party.

GEOGRAPHY: "A hole in the ozone layer" - a clear and brief explanation.

GEOGRAPHY: What do people mean by 'a hole in the ozone layer?' . It is called ozone layer depletion. The ozone layer is found in the stratosphere (one of the parts of the atmosphere) and the depletion (the hole) is mostly caused by the activities of man e.g burning which causes the ozone layer to become thin hence the depletion or the hole. . The ozone layer protects the earth surface and its inhabitants from the ultraviolet rays of the sun.

LITERATURE: What is the difference between Elergy and Dirge? - Elergy and Dirge are both traditional poems composed to lament the death of its subject. They are both sad and mournful poems. - The difference is that Dirge is composed and performed at a funeral orally while Elergy is written for no specific occasion. - Bottom line - Dirge is oral while Elergy is written.
