LITERATURE: What is the difference between Soliloquy and Aside?
-
Soliloquy and Aside are mostly associated with drama works of literature.
Soliloquy is the act of speaking while alone on stage i.e when other characters are not there. It allows the character's thoughts to be conveyed to the audience or readers. While
Aside is a statement made by a character to the audience or readers in the presence of other characters but the other characters supposedly cannot hear.

The difference between these two elements is that with Soliloquy, the speaker is alone on stage talking to the audience while with Aside, the speaker is on stage with other characters when he (the speaker) whispers to the audience so that the other characters cannot hear.
